High-Capacity Unit Employs 51 High-Pressure Q-Lite CNG Cylinders
In addition to a single control for all of the Q-VP650’s 51 CNG tanks, Quantum promotes ‘PerfectFill’ technology it says could allow for storage of as much as 39% more gas.
Quantum Technologies unveiled a “virtual pipeline” trailer for transporting CNG at HHP Summit 2015. The Q-VP650 is built with 51 of the company’s Q-Lite brand all-composite lightweight CNG cylinders affording capacity of up to 645,000 SCF/standard cubic feet of gas – about 4,800 DGE/diesel gallon equivalents – at 5,000 psi.
The high-capacity units “are easily transportable domestically and globally,” Quantum says, as they are designed to fit in a 45-foot ISO shipping container.
More Gas for the Given Volume
Patented “PerfectFill” technology with a new gas-injecting nozzle allows for storage of as much as 39% more gas, the manufacturer adds.
The Q-VP650’s CNG tanks are vertically mounted “to minimize stress due to chassis twists and for longer tank life.”
Quantum introduced its 5,000-psi Q-Lite tanks for high horsepower applications early this past summer (HHP Insight, June 12).
