China Said Going Large in LNG Ships

Companies Make News with Plans for 200 Vessels Companies in China have arranged for the building of 200 liquefied natural gas-fueled vessels for inland waterway service, according to published reports confirmed by a reliable HHP Insight source in Hong Kong. ChinainlandwaterwayAccording to the reports, Green Power Water Transport has ordered the vessels from Shanghai Bestway Marine Engineering Design for 650 million Chinese yuan – approximately $106 million U.S. Shanghai Bestway has assigned the work to its affiliated Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry shipyard. The work reportedly includes one hundred 600-deadwight-ton, fifty 800-ton, and fifty 1,000-ton newbuilds. Deliveries could begin as soon as March 2015. The initial report came from Sino Ship News.
