Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed the State’s Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act into law this week, and said that the legislation “will unlock the potential for thousands of jobs in Southern Illinois and ensure that our environment is protected.” The Quinn administration helped negotiate and draft the legislation.

20 MTU Engines Converted in Marcellus Region – 45,000 Horsepower

American Power Group is talking up its role in a liquefied natural gas-fueled hydraulic fracturing project with Cudd Energy Services for Shell in the Marcellus Shale. APG this week reported purchase orders worth $1.5 million for its Turbocharged Natural Gas brand dual fuel system, to upgrade 12V4000 engines by MTU Detroit Diesel.

Black Horse Venture Buys Pump Manufacturer ProSource

Caterpillar will offer an enhanced suite of well service pressure pumping products behind a new 50-50 venture with Ariel Corp dubbed Black Horse LLC – which has already acquired the Houston-based pump manufacturer ProSource. The two partners say they’ll leverage their collective engineering and manufacturing knowhow to expand the ProSource line.
