INEA, the European Union’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency, has made new awards to help establish commercial use of liquefied natural gas as a transportation fuel – primarily for marine, but also for rail and road.

The European Union, through the Trans-European Transport Network (Ten-T) and other European Commission initiatives, is supporting a bevy of liquefied natural gas ship fueling projects, ranging from the Black Sea and eastern Mediterranean to Spain, and to the Baltic Sea in the North.

EU Eyes Dunkirk LNG Bunkering

The European Commission is kicking in more than 1.1 million euros – nearly $1.5 million U.S. – to scope the feasibility of a liquefied natural gas bunkering station at the northern France port of Dunkirk. The LNG facility would be fed directly from an adjacent LNG import terminal currently under construction.
