Washington State’s Energy Conversions, Inc. and its distributor in Thailand are commissioning the second duel fuel conversion of a Cummins KTA50 engine on a Mubadala Petroleum oil rig. The engines are running on a mix of diesel and raw gas produced by the rig itself.

Encana has commissioned a small liquefied natural gas plant – approximately 4,000 to 5,000 LNG gallons daily – some 34 miles east of Calgary. “The Cavalier LNG facility will play a key role in providing an alternative fuel to diesel for heavy-duty transportation including rail and long-haul trucking,” the company said.

InoxCVA Tapped as Railroad Sees HPDI for Longer Term

CN – Canadian National Railway – has confirmed trials of an LNG-fueled train in Alberta using technology from ECI, Washington State’s Energy Conversions, Inc. CN says that for the longer term, it’s working with Westport Innovations, Gaz Metro, and Caterpillar’s EMD unit on high pressure direct injection technology, and on a standardized railway tender, or LNG fuel car.
