Nieuwegein, Holland-based CNG Net reports a contract to supply compressed natural gas fuel for Texelstroom, the first European ferry to operate on CNG. CNG Net will build a compression facility on the Wadden island of Texel.

Dutch Boat Has Solar Boost for CNG Dual Fuel ‘Hybrid’ Drive

Canada’s Corvus Energy and Spain’s LaNaval have disclosed the choice of a Corvus lithium ion battery energy storage system for a new ferry that will connect Texel Island and the Netherlands mainland. Described as an “an advanced hybrid CNG ferry,” the boat will have compressed natural gas-diesel dual fuel engines.

Existing Danish Boat to Get 2.7 Megawatt-Hour Lithium Pack

Canada’s Corvus Energy said this week that it will supply a 2.7 megawatt-hour lithium polymer battery system for a conversion of an existing diesel-electric ferry operated by Scandlines Danmark. The result will be “significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved maintenance costs and optimized engine performance.”
