Spark-Ignition Generator Set for Oilfield Use

Caterpillar reports U.S. EPA mobile and stationary certification of its all-natural gas, spark-ignition G3306B oilfield generator set, and says it’s “the first Cat power solution to achieve this distinction.”

The spark-ignition, all-natural gas Cat G3306B genset is the first of its kind to win U.S. EPA mobile and stationary certification, the manufacturer says.

The spark-ignition, all-natural gas Cat G3306B genset is the first of its kind to win U.S. EPA mobile and stationary certification, the manufacturer says.

The G3306B is used primarily in land production applications, Cat says, where it can produce upwards of 130 kilowatts of power.

“Our customers have been asking for an EPA certified solution in this specific power node and we’re pleased the G3306B certified generator set is now available to them,” Caterpillar Oil & Gas engineering project team lead Eric Seubring said in a release.

‘Increased Flexibility’

“For customers,” he said, “key benefits of a mobile and stationary EPA-certified solution include increased flexibility to move power throughout regions providing enhanced mobility of their fleet and the ability to operate power in island mode.”

The G3306B offers 70% load step acceptance while operating on a wide range of gas quality – from wellhead gas to pipeline quality.
