Canadian CNG provider Certarus said this morning that it acquired CanGas Solutions from Trinidad Drilling on May 5. “Cangas was one of the original market leaders in CNG and Certarus’ largest CNG competitor in Western Canada,” states a release.

Filling Facility Is Designed for Trailer Loads of Drill Rig Fuel

Saskatchewan has a new compressed natural gas fueling station, designed expressly to fill tube trailers that will transport the fuel to CNG-powered drill rigs. The facility in Weyburn, southeast of Regina near the border with North Dakota, is a joint project of CanGas Solutions and SaskEnergy, including SaskEnergy’s Bayhurst Energy Services subsidiary.

CanElson and SaskEnergy for Truck-Transport Supply Station

Calgary’s CanElson Drilling is getting ready to power drilling rigs on compressed natural gas, and if successful will take the technology to other facilities. The project includes a high-capacity CNG facility in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, with transportation of the clean fuel to 14 drill rigs in that province via a new fleet of 30 trailers fitted with lightweight composite storage cylinders.
