Shell is picking up the pace for liquefied natural gas as an engine fuel in Europe. Effective this month, Shell is taking product from the Gate/Gas Access to Europe import terminal at the Port of Rotterdam, enabling the company to supply its own LNG to marine and road customers in northwest Europe. Shell is also supplying LNG-fueled Anthony Veder ethylene carriers chartered by Sabic at Teesport in the UK.

Carrier for Gasum Will Operate on Cargo Boiloff Gas

Netherlands-based Anthony Veder has publicized a pact with Gasum for the long-term time charter of a new ICE Class 1A Super LNG carrier. The 18,000-cubic-meter vessel is to be built at German shipyard Neptun Werft and delivered during the last quarter of 2017.

Wärtsilä will supply a dual-fuel propulsion package, including main and auxiliary engines, for two new Dutch tankers being built in China. The ships, approximately 300 feet in length, are being built by Avic-Dingheng Shipbuilding to carry liquefied ethylene gas and liquefied petroleum gas for Netherlands-based Anthony Veder for operation in the North Sea.
