Abstracts for Papers for 2014 Conference Due March 21

Organizers of RREC-2014, being held October 28-29, say they expect their 16th Railroad Environmental Conference to be “the largest gathering of the railroad environmental community this year.”

RailroadEC-logoRREC-2014 is hosted by the University of Illinois at the Illini Union hall on the Urbana-Champaign campus. Approximately 500 people attended the 2013 meeting this past November.

RREC-2014 will feature presentations by railroaders, consulting engineers, academics and others involved in all aspects of railroad environmental topics, says CIBER, the University’s Center for International Business Education and Research. Presentation topics are include pollution prevention, energy, emissions and air quality, noise and vibration, environmental management system, compliance, risk and liability management, and remediation.

Key Associations Endorse RREC-2014

The conference is co-sponsored by The Association of American Railroads (AAR), the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way Association (AREMA), the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRA), the American Railway Development Association (ARDA), and the Railway Association of Canada (RAC).

AREMA’s Committee 13 and the AAR Environmental Affairs Committee are expected to hold their fall meeting in conjunction with the RREC-2014 conference.

Abstracts for RREC-2014 technical papers are due March 21.
