The Third of Six LNG-Fueled Offshore Supply Vessels

Harvey Gulf International Marine’s Harvey Liberty, the third of six liquefied natural gas-fueled offshore supply vessels by the New Orleans-based company, entered service with charter customer Shell last week.

Shell has also chartered the sister ships Harvey Energy and Harvey Power.

The Wärtsilä 34DF-powered vessels are fueling at Harvey’s new shore-to-ship facility at Port Fourchon, La.

More than 100 LNG Bunkerings to Date

Including early truck-to-ship bunkering there, the vessels have taken on more than 1.3 million gallons of LNG since Harvey Energy entered service 15 month ago – more than 100 transfers have taken place without incident, says Harvey Gulf senior VP Chad Verret.

Harvey Gulf has chartered its fourth and fifth LNG-fueled OSVs – Harvey Freedom and Harvey America – to an unnamed client (HHP Insight, February 23).

Delivery of Harvey Freedom is expected in January 2017 with Harvey America following in October 2017, Verret says. The six of the series, Harvey Patriot, will likely be delivered in the first quarter of 2018.
