Marks the First Use of New Dual Fuel Engine from Wärtsilä
Terntank confirms the launch in China of its new Ternsund, the first of four new dual fuel liquefied natural gas-diesel product tankers for the Sweden- and Denmark-based operator. The ships with advanced hull design by Rolls-Royce Marine are being built by AVIC Dingheng in China.
The 482-foot (147-meter) vessels for Terntank will be the first to employ new 2-stroke, low pressure, dual-fuel engines from Wärtsilä. In addition to the new RT-flex50DF engine, they will have LNGPac fuel systems, likewise from Wärtsilä (HHP Insight, June 28, 2014).
Ternsund is to be delivered in the spring of 2016.
The new tanker will work primarily the Baltic Sea emission control area on long-term charter to Finland’s NEOT – North European Oil.Contact information is only available to premium subscribers. Click here to purchase a premium subscription.
