The Furetank-FKAB design is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly half. The new ships will have LNG dual fuel propulsion and battery backup to minimize the use of auxiliary engines.

“These vessels will be designed to meet all known future demands both from governments, the industry and from our customers,” Furetank Rederi CEO Lars Höglund says in the Gothia Tankers order announcement.

The vessels will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance.
