Dual Fuel Vessels to Be Built by Remontowa Shipbuilding in Poland

Norway’s Siem Offshore says it’s contracted with Gdansk-based Remontowa Shipbuilding for four additional duel fuel platform supply vessels. “The vessels shall be of VS 4411 DF design,” Siem said, indicating Wärtsilä architecture and engines.

Wärtsilä is to supply its VS 4411 LNG package for a second PSV for Siem Offshore, to be built by Remontowa Shipbuilding in Poland for charter by Shell.

Siem Offshore has ordered four more LNG-MDO duel fuel platform supply vessels of VS 4411 design to be built by Remontowa Shipbuilding in Poland.

The order follows an announcement in September with Remontowa for a single 293-foot (89.2-meter) VS 4411 PSV, with Wärtsilä propulsion and LNGPac liquefied natural gas fuel systems, to be delivered next year and operated for Norske Shell (HHP Insight, September 3).

Wärtsilä detailed an order for a VS 4411 vessel for Siem late in the prior autumn (HHPi, November 28, 2012). That first vessel, built by Norway’s Hellesøy Verft shipyard, is due for delivery this year, to be operated for Total E&P Norge.

Deliveries in 2015 and 2016

The ships will be able to run on LNG or MDO (marine diesel oil). They have a deck area of more than 10,440 square feet (970 square meters).

Deliveries of the four new PSVs will take place between the third quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016, Siem says.
